From May 12 to May 19, 2024, Fare Om Educational Center in Moorea had the pleasure of hosting an incredible group of French Alliance members and students from Auckland, New Zealand. This educational visit was a unique opportunity for the participants to immerse themselves in French language and Polynesian culture, creating unforgettable memories and forging new friendships.

Arrival and Welcome

The group arrived on Moorea on a beautiful sunny day, greeted with warm smiles and traditional Polynesian garlands. After settling into their accommodations at Fare Om, everyone gathered for a welcome dinner featuring delicious local cuisine, prepared by our talented chefs using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Learning and Exploring

Mornings: French Lessons

Each morning, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the students participated in immersive French lessons. These sessions were designed to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and cultural competency skills. Our experienced instructors provided engaging and interactive lessons, tailored to the students' levels and interests.

Afternoons: Excursions and Activities

After lunch, the afternoons were filled with a variety of excursions and activities, showcasing the natural beauty and rich culture of Moorea.

Belvedere Viewpoint and Historical Sites

The first excursion took the group to the stunning Belvedere Viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay. From there, they explored the ancient marae (sacred sites), learning about the history and traditions of the island's original inhabitants.

Oceanic Exploration

A boat trip to explore the vibrant oceanic life inside the reef was the highlight of the third day. Students snorkeled among colorful coral reefs, encountering a diverse array of marine species, including rays and tropical fish. This hands-on experience provided a deeper understanding of marine ecology and conservation efforts.

Local Cuisine and Cultural Workshops

The fourth day was dedicated to experiencing the local cuisine and participating in cultural workshops. Students learned to cook traditional Polynesian dishes, danced to the rhythmic beats of the drums, and created beautiful handicrafts. These activities not only enriched their cultural knowledge but also allowed them to express their creativity.

Farewell Dinner

The sixth day was a free day for students to explore Moorea at their own pace or relax at Fare Om. The visit concluded with a festive farewell dinner, celebrating the friendships and experiences shared over the week.

After a hearty breakfast, the group bid farewell to Moorea, carrying with them not only improved French language skills but also a deeper appreciation for Polynesian culture and the natural wonders of the island.
